Flag on Fire at Atlanta Braves Game Honoring Hank Aaron
An American Flag caught on fire last night as I was enjoying the Opening Day ceremonies honoring the legendary Hank Aaron and the Atlanta Braves.
It was a cool and windy evening, which is what led to the flag burning. Just as a few fireworks went off before the game, the wind blew the flag in the wrong direction and it caught on fire.
Just as quickly as the fire started, the wind and the flame-retardant material helped helped the fire go out. However, as we all sang the national anthem a few minutes later, everyone could see the charred holes in the flag.
That was last night. Today, there is a crisp, new flag flying proudly over Turner Field. I love the Braves. I’m sure this fluke won’t happen again. Although, I am wondering what they did with the burned flag…
